Program Overview
Mastermind cognitive training
Unlock your potential with a neuroscience-based program designed to improve core cognitive functions such as attention, working memory, and processing speed. Developed by a multidisciplinary team of neuroscientists, clinicians, and technology experts, the platform delivers targeted brain training through adaptive virtual reality and mobile-based exercises. Each session is personalized to the user’s current ability, gradually increasing in complexity to promote measurable, lasting cognitive improvement in varied life settings.
Key Features
- Designed for all ages and skill levels with auto leveling algorithms
- Self-guided, simple to navigate, user experience
- Developed in a “gamified” format to make training fun.
- Created to offer flexible training on virtual reality, tablet, and mobile platforms.
- Subscriptions available through partner organizations or for individuals.
- Drives improvement for multiple user types including education, sports, business, seniors, military/first responders, and more.

Program Details
Recommend Training: A minimum of 2 days per week; repetition is key to brain change so the more the better.
Training Session Duration: Each training session lasts approximately 20 minutes and consists of 3 eye exercises and 2 cognitive training games.
Open Play: Allows for additional training outside of the set program to enhance skills.
Assessment: The initial assessment occurs prior to the first training session and re-occurs every 24 sessions to measure performance improvement; the assessment takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Equipment Required:
Virtual Reality: Meta Quest 2, 3, or Pro
Mobile/Tablet: Apple or Google products
Mastermind Innovation Lab: Physical location offering advanced physical and cognitive training with a performance coach
1320 Illinois Route 59, Naperville, IL 60563
Program Components
Assessment: Completed prior to starting the program, the assessment sets your baseline performance levels and assigns your Mastermind Metric. The assessment takes 30 minutes to complete and consists of 3 clinical, and 3 performance-based, tests. Reassessments occur after every 24 training sessions to measure your progress and improvement across the following skills:
- Focus & Attention
- Memory
- Reaction Time
- Response Inhibition
- Object Tracking
- Timing
- Processing Speed
- Hand-Eye Coordination

Eye Exercises: Ocular movement, control, and strength are critical to visual processing and reactions. Mastermind has developed a robust eye strengthening program consisting of 5 exercises intend to improve performance. 3 eye exercises are completed prior to every cognitive training session and include the following:
- Optokinetic: Compensatory reflex that supports visual stabilization.
- Saccades: Rapid movement of the eyes between fixation points.
- Fixation: Maintaining gaze on a single object or location.
- Near/Far Shift: Shifting focus on an object rapidly and continually moving from near to far.
- Convergence/Divergence: The ability to turn the eyes inward as an object moves closer (Convergence) and outward as an object moves outward (Divergence)

Cognitive Training: Mastermind has developed 39 distinct cognitive training games focused on differing skills. The training is built to improve cognitive function and requires repetition to develop new and more efficient neural pathways.
Each training session consists of 2 training games combined with 3 eye exercises. Each training game lasts 7 minutes and require sustained attention. All cognitive training games are built in a fun “gamified” format, but are hardcore brain training exercises. The games have scoring features, progression rewards, as well as top performer leaderboards.

Guided Meditation & Breathing Control *Coming Soon*: Meditation-inspired, cognitive training game aimed at improving self-regulation of internal attention and distractions. Created to make benefits of concentrative meditation more easily accessible to anyone, including complete novices. This is achieved by creating a game that yields quantifiable and attainable goals, provides feedback, and includes an adaptive algorithm to gradually increase difficulty as users improve.
