Building student skills. Supporting teachers

Mastermind Cognitive Training helps schools and learning centers assess, build, and measure the executive function skills that determine how effectively students learn: attention, memory, processing speed, and reasoning. The platform is self-guided, so a team gets the read, the training, and the progress without adding to what they manage.

A registered clinical trial at the University of Bedfordshire found significant improvement in student attention and eye movement control: the steadiness that lets a student track along a line of text and find the next one.

Every student gets a profile. Your team gets somewhere to start

A Mastermind Learning Readiness Profile shows which underlying skills are strong and which need building, and points to what to work on first rather than only what was measured.

  • One self-guided 30-minute session, with no specialist time to book.

  • Re-run later, so growth is documented rather than described.

  • The same measures every time, so a class or a caseload compares.

One system assesses, trains and measures

What a school usually funds three times, Mastermind covers once.

Teacher capacity

Student outcomes are the mission. Mastermind lets teachers identify, support, and measure them without adding to what your team manages, reducing operational burden and protecting instructional time.

Budget

Schools often pay for separate assessments, intervention programs, and specialist services to support these areas. Mastermind brings all three, assessment, training, and measurement, into one cost-efficient system.

We are proud to have collaborated on research with Mastermind and can see how that cohort of children benefited from the intervention.

Mastermind delivers assessment and training data your team can act on

Your team gets a clear, objective read on each student's executive function skills, plus a structured way to build them. Training targets what the Learning Readiness Profile shows, supplementing the academic data a team already collects.

Federal funding pathways

Mastermind's core cost-support pathway is Title IV-A, the federal Student Support and Academic Enrichment grant that helps fund programs like this. Title I funds can also support Mastermind in schools that qualify.

Private & Charter Schools

A concrete, individualized picture of every student's Learning Readiness Profile

For schools competing on enrollment and outcomes, Mastermind offers a differentiator families can see: a documented learning readiness assessment and a structured training program tied to measurable growth. The Learning Readiness Profile doubles as something the school can put in front of prospective and current families directly.

Partnership study

Mastermind and Fusion Academy ran a study, now published as a JMIR preprint: students using Mastermind improved several times as much as a control group across cognitive measures like working memory and cognitive flexibility.

Learning Enrichment

A baseline on day one, and growth you can show

Directors use it to see what each student needs before a program is planned, then build a structured training program on top of it and report progress over time.

A reason families enroll

The assessment becomes a differentiator families notice, and a natural first step in each family's enrollment.

A sample Mastermind Learning Readiness Profile is the report your team would receive for each student. Tell us where to send it and a member of our team will reach out.

What's in the profile

  • Every foundational skill measured, each with a score and a band from Emerging to Age-typical.
  • Skills ordered by how much each one affects the others, so the first is where support carries furthest.
  • A one-sentence read on when learning is most accessible for that student.
  • A "Start here" list of small adjustments to try first, like naming the first step before a task or checking in before attention drifts.
  • The profile is generated from the baseline session, and the training that follows targets what it found. No specialist hours to schedule for either.

Athletics

Training for the pace and pressure of competition

Mastermind trains the reaction time, processing speed, and decision-making under pressure that show up in competition. Athletes train on their own between sessions, and athletic directors and coaches get the same progress data the academic side runs on, for the same program.

Peer-reviewed

An independently peer-reviewed study published in JMIR Formative Research found junior tennis players using Mastermind showed 38% greater improvement in Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) than a control group.

Independently studied

Across 168 students in UK primary schools, Mastermind produced significant improvement in teacher-reported attention (p=.017) and in eye-tracking measures of visual control (p=.001), the foundation of fluent reading.

The questions institutional buyers ask first. For pricing and rollout specifics, a member of our team can walk you through it.

Schedule a Demo
  • Does Mastermind qualify for Title IV-A funding?

Yes. Mastermind supports Well-Rounded Education and Safe and Healthy Students categories under Title IV-A.

  • How does Mastermind fit into an MTSS or RTI framework?

Mastermind delivers targeted cognitive training for students who need additional support, with built-in reassessment that gives your team documented progress over time.

  • Can Mastermind support IEP or 504 documentation?

Yes. The Learning Readiness Profile provides objective cognitive data special education teams can use alongside their existing evaluation and assessment processes.

  • What devices does Mastermind run on?

Most schools run Mastermind on tablets, including the shared device carts many classrooms already use. It also runs on iOS and Android phones and on Meta Quest VR headsets. Students get the same assessment and training on any of them, so device choice follows your budget and setup.

  • How does Mastermind work alongside our specialists?

Mastermind extends what existing staff can do, not replaces it. Assessment and training run automatically, so your team's time goes toward interpreting results and making decisions.

  • How much training does staff need?

Minimal. The platform is self-guided and auto-leveling, designed to run with little to no ongoing staff facilitation.
