Accessibility Statement

Mastermind Cognitive Training is committed to making this website usable for as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technology. This statement explains the standard we build to, the steps we have taken, where we know we still fall short, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

The standard we work to

We build this site to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That is the level most widely referenced by accessibility law and policy, and it is the target recorded in our own build standards.

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that most of the content meets the standard, but some parts do not yet fully meet it. We treat the remaining gaps as work in progress rather than a finished state, and we are not claiming full conformance, because that would not be accurate today.

What we have done

Accessibility is built into how the site is made rather than added as a check at the end. Specific measures include:

  • Semantic structure. Pages use real headings in order, landmark regions for the main areas, and lists marked up as lists. A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing on every page.
  • Keyboard support. Menus, controls and the mobile navigation can be operated with a keyboard alone, including opening and closing menus, closing them with the Escape key, and moving through links in a logical order.
  • Color and contrast. Text and interface colors are chosen against measured contrast ratios so they meet the Level AA thresholds, including text placed over darker panels.
  • Visible focus. Every control shows a clear outline when it is reached by keyboard, and the layout keeps the focused item clear of the header that stays fixed at the top of the page.
  • Reduced motion. When your device or browser is set to reduce motion, animations are turned off, and no content is left hidden as a result.

These measures began as findings from a full accessibility audit of our homepage. That audit became the build standard we apply to the rest of the site, so new pages inherit the same structure, color and keyboard rules.

How we test

We test in two ways. We run automated checks with the axe-core testing engine across the site's pages, and we test by hand: moving through pages with a keyboard, measuring color contrast where automated tools cannot, and confirming that pages still work when text is enlarged or text spacing is increased. Automated tools catch only part of what matters, so the manual work is where most issues are found and fixed.

Known limitations

We want to be honest about where the site does not yet fully meet the standard:

  • Our in-depth audit so far covers the homepage in full. Other pages are built to the same standard, but not every page has had that same complete manual review yet.
  • Some checks are still being completed, such as confirming color contrast on the final photography once it is in place.
  • Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time task. We keep reviewing and improving the site, and update this statement as we make changes.

If you come across a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us. Reports from people using the site are one of the most useful ways we find and fix problems.
